Main Concept 4: Meaning

The ultimate question is the "so what?" question.  Everything we have done in class, and all of the previous main concepts feed into this one.  We are trying to figure out meaning and messages in literature.  It is what we do for every closed prompt, along with all of the open ones.  Meaning is what we search for in every novel, play and poem.  Everything  boils down to meaning.

  1. This is all very true, and very well-stated. Everything does boil down to meaning and that is why we're in the class. However, I don't know if this has really given a grasp of what we've learned. This is the goal: what I believe we had to summarize in this assignment is what we have learned which will help us REACH that goal of meaning. You did touch on the elements of DIDLS, but more specific notes might help this synopsis be a more effective study guide. That being said, this is exactly what we are doing, and the most important thing, so this does summarize what we've learned in a way. Overall, good synopsis!

  2. As Maya said above, you raise a good point, but discussing more specific ways to find it would be helpful. You mention that there's meaning in the prompts, and could elaborate on TEM format and whatnot.

  3. In general, more depth and breadth of coverage would have strengthened this assignment.
